Canterbury Poets’ Collective Open Mic – Looking for a space to share your words? Join us for the first hour of every Poetry in Performance night, where each open mic poet gets up to 3 minutes to read – note: this includes any brief introductory remarks you think you need. This is a safe, supportive space to try out new poems, read for the very first time, or simply share your writing with your poetry people.

Many of Canterbury’s finest poets have taken the CPC open mic, and the energy in the room is always inspiring.

Arrive early to get your name on the open mic list – spots often fill up fast!

And here’s a special incentive: once a year, our top-voted open mic readers are invited to feature in our Best of Open Mic showcase, giving your words a wider audience and a special place in our community’s literary life.

Only two more open mic opportunities left this season in March – don’t miss your chance to step up to the mic, meet other writers, and be part of our vibrant poetry community.

Everyone is welcome – bring a poem, a story, or just your curiosity, and be ready to be inspired. And remember, after the open mic, we have three featured poets from around Aotearoa New Zealand.

Where? Ara’s Imagitech Theatre, 130 Madras Street, Christchurch

When? We start at 6:30 PM sharp, this Thursday, next Thursday, and the one after that! Arrive early to get your name on the open mic list.

Tickets are $10 ($30 season pass), with a Zoom option available. Purchase via Humanitix (link in bio)
