DownloadWe’re updating our arts and creativity strategy for the city and a draft is ready for review. While not significantly different from the first iteration (2019-2024), there are some small changes. We’re looking to strengthen our commitment to support local artists and creative organisations, to work towards enabling sustainable practices and supporting sustainable careers, and to looking at how we can develop diverse investment in the arts and creativity.
Achievements over the past few years included the establishment of the Toi Ōtautahi website, newsletter and social platforms, the opening of Toi Auaha, development and delivery of workshops, mentoring opportunities and masterclasses, developed community based residencies, and more funding was delivered through the capital endowment fund at Council to support The Arts Centre and street arts across the city, many more artists were commissioned to create work through our events, and new facilities opened including a home for The Court Theatre and movement studios at Parakiore. Rātā Foundation and Creative New Zealand continued to invest in artists and arts organisations and ChristchurchNZ committed support for screen activity in the city.
