Gremlins is a not-for-profit independent arts platform dedicated to amplifying grassroots and underground creative communities in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Through a mix of digital and physical media, Gremlins increases access to local arts information, supports emerging creatives, and fosters a more connected and inclusive arts ecosystem.
They run a widely used digital gig guide and are launching a monthly printed edition from August 2025 to reach new audiences and improve visibility for local events.
Gremlins also plans to host their first large-scale community event on 15 November at The Loons to celebrate their first anniversary, alongside ongoing collaborations like the Queer Craft Club, a social space for the rainbow community.
Funding through Boost Ōtautahi will support labour, printing, admin, software, and material costs to sustain their mahi. They also aim to launch free public workshops on writing and creative involvement, further lowering the barriers to participation in the arts. Gremlins has established a strong following through their website and Instagram (@gremlins.otautahi), where they publish articles, videos, and artist features.
“The first week of crowdfunding for Gremlins has been exciting and simultaneously frightening! But more than anything, Gremlins has been overwhelmed – in the best way possible – by the tautoko of the community and we are so grateful to Boosted and to those backing our mahi.”
Boosted support will enable them to continue growing as an accessible, community-rooted platform championing the vibrancy of the 03.
