The Shed Gallery is set to transform into a surreal suburban dairy this June with Bodega Mart, a new solo exhibition by artist Isaac Tait.
Blurring the line between installation, satire, and immersive retail experience, Bodega Mart reimagines the classic Kiwi convenience store through Isaac’s distinct lens of absurdity, humour, and social commentary. Shelves will be stocked with parody products, strange inventions, and unexpected artworks exploring themes of capitalism, ableism, nostalgia, and popular culture.
The concept emerged during a conversation at The White Room Creative Space when Isaac joked that if he ran the studio, he would “turn it into a dairy.” From there, Bodega Mart was born.
Join us for the opening celebration featuring art, live music by surf Rock misfits ‘The Wendys’, free mystery ice cream, and miscellaneous strangeness.
Opening Event: Saturday, 20 June, 3pm – 5pm
The Shed Gallery, 46a Vogel Street, Richmond, Christchurch
The exhibition runs until 5 July and is open Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 1pm.
Presented as part of Tiny Fest 2026. Supported by Creative New Zealand and The White Room Creative Space.
