Ghosts on Every Corner is a love letter to the city from Ghostcat and will be on show at Pūmanawa Gallery from 29 March.
A collection of 13 iconic builds from Christchurch pre-earthquake, displayed for the general public alongside a book called Ghosts On Every Corner.
Ghosts On Every Corner is a solo exhibition by Ghostcat (Mike Beer) consisting of scratch-built models of iconic buildings that used to exist in Christchurch
Featuring intricate recreations of diverse places, from Smiths Bookstore, Echo Records, and Wizards Arcade to Java Café, the Cathedral Square Police Kiosk and the Deans Ave Sales Yard building. The selection of builds represents the way seemingly small and at times overlooked places can have a big impact on people and communities, settings where lives played out, where people came of age and where bonds were formed.
Alongside the scratch-built sculptures, Ghostcat has compiled a book exploring the project and places, with photography by Dave Richards and text by Dr Reuben Woods, drawing on interviews from a wide range of contributors.
The Exhibition runs 29 March through to 30 April at Pūmanawa Gallery in the Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora.
