How would you describe what you do?

Events Producer for Christchurch City Council and Guitarist & Manager of rock band Volts.

What was your most recent project?

Just released Volts debut record which we have been working on for the past year.

What project have you worked on that you’re the most proud of?

Band achievement would be our new single Wolves gaining airtime with radio giants The Rock and Radio Hauraki. Work success would have to be producing Go Live Festival 2021, which was a showcase of twenty Ōtautahi bands playing in the Town Hall complex.

What is essential for creatives to have in their life?

Music! I have morphed in and out of a few projects over the years but always drawn back to song writing and having a creative outlet.

What inspires you about Ōtautahi?

I feel like the city is finally returning to the musical heyday that we experienced in the 90’s. There are a lot of great artist’s on the verge of being discovered.

What piece of advice about your creative work has served you well?

If you are serious about a career path in music brace yourself, it’s a long hard road.

What’s the biggest misconception about your creative work?

That it’s an easy life style.

What Christchurch artists do you most admire?

Some new artists on the rise to watch out for Dolphin Friendly and Pretty Stooked.

What artwork/piece of music/performance has taken your breath away?

Seeing Bruce Springsteen playing live, I managed to get a high five from The Boss as well which was pretty great.

What do you wish you’d have known about creative work when you were younger?

A better understanding of the music business. I was self-taught which took a few years of trial and error to reach any kind of success.

What’s your favourite hidden secret in Ōtautahi?

The Astro Lounge.
