Arts markets can open the door to touring opportunities, presenting partnerships and new audiences, but knowing how they work can feel overwhelming.

Hosted by Cubbin Theatre’s Melanie Luckman (Artistic Director) and Hannah Wheeler (General Manager), this workshop offers an introduction to arts markets, looking at what they are, why they can help and how artists can make the most of them. Using their own firsthand experience, Melanie and Hannah will explore how presenting and pitching at arts markets works, what presenters may be looking for, how to prepare your work for a market, and what to expect if you’re attending for the first time.

Whether you’re thinking about applying to PANNZ (Performing Arts Network New Zealand) or another arts market, or simply want to understand how touring and presenting opportunities work, this session will give you some practical insights.

Workshop schedule: Doors will open at 5.15pm. The workshop will start at 5.30pm sharp and take 60-90 minutes. If you cannot attend the whole workshop, you are welcome to come for as much as you can. Pēpi and tamariki are always welcome to attend with you!
