Opening Event: Saturday 3 August @ 2pm – all welcome
Rock, Air and Water is a group exhibition during August at Stoddart Cottage, in which four Te Waipapa Diamond Harbour artists engage with nature. In works that span paintings in oil and acrylic, graphite drawing and ceramics, the natural world is refracted through many lenses. Its elemental title is taken from a poem by Denis Glover, who also took much inspiration from the Banks Peninsula.
Rachel Thornton presents her latest series of paintings in which cellular shapes and botanical elements evoke nature’s cycles of growth, decay and renewal. While in the „Perspectiva“ series of ceramics, Beate Hausen invites us to view the human versus more-than-human worlds through lines of perspective that bisect architectural symbols and raw rock formations. Karen Colyer’s acrylics and Emma McConachie’s drawings and oils directly reflect the environment of Te Waipapa and its different atmospheres, seasons and fleeting moments.
Stoddart Cottage is open 10am-4pm Fridays, Saturday and Sundays
