The Whakaraupō Carving Centre Trust will be presenting Dr Jo Burzynska’s Hā! exhibition at Rei Gallery, Lyttelton from Saturday 24th of August and will run up until the 29th of September.
In Hā!, Burzynska has created a series of olfactory “portraits” of inhabitants of Ōtautahi from a range of ethnic, sensory, gender and neurodiverse backgrounds. Using the intimate sense of smell, Hā! invites an embodied transfer of personal, and cultural, sensory experiences through its individual olfactory sculptures, and in the wider immaterial work that emerges as their scents mingle in the gallery.
Jo will be hosting an artist at Rei on Saturday 14 September 2-3pm (no need to book).
Her handmade perfumes inspired by the nature and cultures of Aotearoa will also be available to sample and purchase throughout the exhibition.
