Blue + White Sgraffito Bowl Workshop with Jane McCulla Ceramics

Jane will provide partially dried clay bowl forms so that each person can refine the forms and alter the rim if they wish.

We will apply blue underglaze onto the clay and dry it to the right stage to avoid smudging and then score, or sgraffito, into the surface with a sharp tool. Each person can draw their own patterns or write onto the interior and/or exterior surface of the bowl.

After firing in Jane’s kiln, the white clay colour will be revealed through the blue underglaze and a transparent glaze will be applied to make the bowl fully usable in your home.

If you like you can bring a design to trace through onto your bowl before glazing.

Your finished Sgraffito Bowl will be available for collection after firing approximately 2-3 weeks later.
