We’ll begin with a visit to Christchurch Art Gallery to discover different printmaking methods and themes.
Then back at the CWEA, you’ll experiment with mono-printing and relief printing, using woodblocks and Gelli plates to create gift cards and larger artworks. This course is suitable for beginners. New Zealand-inspired themes, particularly native birds and trees, will provide a starting point for your own designs.
Materials provided: Inks, tools, plates, blocks and paper are supplied, and the cost of these materials is included in the course fee.
Bring: An old shirt or apron to protect your clothing—it may get messy!
Diane Swain and Margaret Taylor are experienced teachers, artists and printmaking practitioners.
