Tim Holmes is a conservation architect and photographer. Within his photography practice Holmes captures heritage buildings and sites threatened by their environment, where he considers themes of threat, risk, or pivotal points in time when steps are being taken toward repair and re-use.

Holmes’s silver gelatin photographs, mostly made in the past year, in a fully analogue process on 5×4” and 10×8” film are hand processed and printed by the artist and mounted in recycled 19th and 20th Century timber frames.

The exhibition features a number of buildings Holmes has encountered in his profession as a conservation architect, including Stoddart Cottage, the venue for the show. In the Stoddart Cottage series, Holmes considers the threat posed by the gum trees surrounding the Cottage, which were originally planted in the 1800’s as a wind break.
