Kim Lowe: Monoprint
Stoddart Cottage’s March exhibition, Powhiwhi, by artists Kyla Cresswell, Emma Kitson, and Kim Lowe, opens on Saturday March the 7th at 4pm.
In 2021, Kyla Cresswell, Emma Kitson and Kim Lowe collaborated for Ko Murihiku Tōku Whaea – Southern Mother. Opening at Pātaka Art + Museum in Porirua, the exhibition subsequently toured Otago and Southland.
Ko Murihiku Tōku Whaea – Southern Mother, was a celebration of longstanding friendship and the artist’s love of printmaking and was inspired by their teacher, the late Marilynn Webb, who encouraged them to explore their rich ancestry and identities, to value a connection to place, and to believe in their own voices. Inspired by Murihiku and Te Waipounamu, the atmosphere and values of the place and people, the artists continued their collaboration in a series of exhibitions. Pōwhiwhi is the artists sixth collaboration.
Pōwhiwhi runs from the 6th of March -29th of March.
