The Creative Residency Programme supports artists practising in a range of artforms to participate in cultural and artistic exchange and have the freedom to experiment with and explore new ideas, research, develop or complete new work and engage with local arts communities and audiences.
Two residency periods of 10 weeks are planned for 2024. The dates are either 8 April to 16 June 2024 OR 19 August to 27 October 2024 at Te Matatiki Toi Ora in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Up to four residents are selected for each residence period.
In particular we are interested in expressions of interest from artists who are drawn to and inspired by the significance of Te Matatiki Toi Ora as an arts, culture, and heritage taonga – a significant pre-European settlement site for Māori in Ōtautahi and a site of learning and discovery.
Note: The programme is funding dependent. Artists who submit an expression of interest do so on the understanding that the programme will only go ahead if externally fund.
