Portrait Drawing with Jon Jeet

Visual Arts

Thursday evening saw 25 enthusiastic artists descend on Kate Sheppard House Te Whare Waiutuutu to enjoy a two-hour class with Jon Jeet.

The ‘portrait drawing for beginners’ class was organised by Toi Ōtautahi as part of the 2023 Year of the Arts programme and gave budding artists the opportunity to learn how to draw with a life model.

The class was held in conjunction with Kate Sheppard House  – which is currently exhibiting the Avenal McKinnon portrait collection.

Participants enjoyed the evening – as evidenced by this response:

Thankyou to Jon Jeet and the organisers of last night’s portrait drawing class. Jon was a wonderful tutor with a lovely manner, who made what we all find so challenging, much more accessible and fun. So too, the organisers. Huge thanks for this gift. Only $5 each for an expert tutor, a professional model, paper, pencils and drawing boards, all in a beautiful and comfortable venue.

Keep your eyes peeled for more drawing class opportunities in the next few months.
