Peninsula Art Auction 2023 Features Some Special Family Connections…

Visual Arts

A promising young artist in her own right, Akilah Hammond remembers long evenings at the Volcano cafe with her grandad Bill, while he sketched and scribbled.

The Peninsula Art Auction is excited to be auctioning “Bone Eagle C” by Bill Hammond right next to his granddaughter’s work.

These are just two of many amazing artworks featuring in the Peninsula Art Auction this year.

With over 100 artists in this year’s Auction with links to the port town or the wider Banks Peninsula, it is an opportunity for up-coming artists to exhibit right next to the famous. Highlights this year include works from Bill Hammond, Jason Greig, Asher Raawiri Newbery, Nichola Shanley, Hannah Beehre, Ben Reid, Mark Whyte, Scott Jackson, and the late Llew Summers son Dan Summers.

The venue for the Art Auction is Lyttelton Primary School, 34 Oxford Street, Lyttelton. We will be exhibiting over 180 pieces of art including jewellery, paintings, photographs, pottery and sculptures from more than 100 contributing artists. There are two visitor-friendly parts to the event:
