The Narcs were another Christchurch act that were on high-rotate in the early 80s. Their name is a nod to The Police, a band they often covered before deciding to stick with their self-penned songs. After emerging from the Christchurch pub scene, Their 1984 anthem ‘Heart and Soul’ was their biggest hit, peaking at number four on the NZ charts and winning two trophies at the 1984 NZ Music Awards.
