Bic Runga emerged as a young Cashmere High School singer from the Rockquest stage and headed for world domination. Her debut album Drive infiltrated radio stations everywhere, charted at number one and sold enough copies to go seven-times platinum. After two further successful albums Runga was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2006. More recently, Bic has released music under the Opossom and King Sweeties banners, and contributed to the Waiata / Anthems project with a te reo Māori version of her 1997 smash hit, ‘Sway’. Head over to AudioCulture to read Bic’s own take on her five solo album releases in this AudioCulture piece.
