Project management skills are not the most obvious qualities expected from intensely creative people, but hugely popular Banks Peninsula artist Anna Gibbs had to create a rock-solid schedule to handle an important art show and the arrival of her second child.
The painter, originally from London, who has experienced an explosion in social media followers over the past three years, is known for her vivid depictions of native New Zealand birds, standing out on golden backgrounds.
Gibbs moved to Aotearoa four years ago due to family connections and has experienced “incredible access to all these native bird species” thanks to the Pest Free Banks Peninsula/Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū programme surrounding her Le Bons Bay home.
Her work, she says, also serves to remind us of the conservation challenges we face in Aotearoa.
