Happy Holidays from the Toi Ōtautahi Team

What a busy year it has been! As we mark nearly a year at Toi Auaha, we can reflect on all the mahi, the exhibitions, performances, writing, recordings, festivals and events that have made this year so busy for many of us.

Many will be reflecting on the challenges faced and the successes as we farewell 2023. This has been the first year after many where we have not had COVID restrictions – we have seen a mega effort from our arts communities to share ideas, create new work, and safely encourage people to venture out and meaningfully connect with one another again

With some exceptional collaborations, and so much commitment and good will from legions of volunteers, the arts and creative sector really has made Ōtautahi Christchurch vibrant, rich and welcoming, and for so many, a great place to be creative.

On balance we are in a good place, we think, to meet future challenges and to take up opportunities as they arise, particularly if we continue to collaborate, practice kindness and remain open to new things.

Whiria te takata ka puta he oraka, whiria kā mahi toi ka puta he tino rakatirataka.
Weaving people promotes well-being, weaving the arts promotes excellence.

On behalf of the arts team, thank you for your mahi and for your support. Whatever your plans for the season, we wish you well. Kā mihi o te wā me te tau hou ki a koutou katoa!

Kiri Jarden, Olivia Webb and Jamie Hanton.
