Block Party Art Market!
We’re celebrating the 2023 Year of the Arts – an initiative designed to bring the city and its residents together, to reflect and celebrate the heritage of arts, culture, and creativity of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
To celebrate the first Year of the Arts, the arts organisations located in the two blocks west of the Ōtakaro Avon River will be hosting a Block Party on Saturday 25 November 2023.
As part of the line-up of events, there will be an arts and makers market at Te Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre running from 12noon – 6pm, and this is your chance to be a part of it!
Expressions of interest are now open; stalls will be free of charge, and successful applicants will only need to bring their talent and furniture (tables, displays, etc).
We are also encouraging art-making activities for the day, so if you have an idea get in touch to see how we can make it happen.
How to apply:
Send an email to blockparty.toiotautahi@gmail.com with a short introduction (no more than 100 words) about you and your art, and a max of 3 photos showing what you would like to sell. Stall places will assessed by members of the Block Party Steering Committee and be prioritised to showcase local talent and represent art forms and communities not already represented in the day’s wider activities.
The EOI deadline is midnight 8 October. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out via email above.
The steering committee comprises representatives from Christchurch City Council, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna O Waiwhetū, CoCA Toi Moroki, Te Matatiki Toi Ora the Arts Centre, and Canterbury Museum.
