The Canterbury Patchwork and Quilting Guild was founded in 1979 by Betty Glanville and Edna Butcher. It promotes patchwork and quilting skills to all ages and cultural backgrounds through education, exhibitions and meetings in a supportive environment.
An exhibition of work is held every second year. Quilts not previously exhibited in the Canterbury area are eligible to be entered. There are several awards including two special awards presented at each exhibition. These are the Edna Butcher award for small piecing and the Betty Glanville award for fine hand quilting. An award for quilters of less than three years. Also Art quilts and Nothing New, using already used fabrics.
