The Christchurch City Council is seeking nominations for new Creative Communities Assessors.
Nominations Due: 5pm Friday 20th December 2024
Creative New Zealand works with city and district councils across Aotearoa to deliver the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS). This provides funding to communities so New Zealanders can be involved in local arts activities. Each council forms an assessment committee to allocate the CCS funding. The assessment committee is made up of councilors and community representatives who have experience and/or expertise in the arts and are familiar with a broad range of local arts activity.
Assessment committees are at the heart of the success of the Creative Communities Scheme. Their main role is assessing applications and allocating funding, in line with specific local priorities set by the council. However, they also advocate and are ambassadors for the Scheme within their communities of practice. Christchurch City Council has two Creative Communities application rounds per year. In each round, an assessor will read and assess applications (approximately 30 per round) and attend an assessment committee workshop where applications are discussed, and final recommendations are made. Training is provided. Assessors are paid a fee of $500.00 per funding round they participate in.
