A place for creative connection..
Art-East was established in 2014 with the vision of creating a safe place of support for people who have or are struggling with a range of issues, including alcohol or drug, mental health, isolation, social stigma and poverty.
The Art-East physical setting is a multi – disciplinary studio, incorporating a range of mediums including painting, drawing, mosaic, papermaking, wood burning, printing & sculpture. However we also provide the Art East programmes offsite in other collaborative settings including Christchurch Men’s Prison. Our purpose is to help people connect with community through the arts.
We regularly go on field trips which involve visiting local galleries and attractions, as well as inviting local artists who have a passion for what we do into our studio to share skills and their vision for promoting personal change and self – development through the arts. This has led to involvement in collaborative art exhibitions and learning new creative processes.
